Owner and Ophthalmologist

Dr. Winston is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with 30 years of experience working in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. He was Chairman of Ophthalmology for Friendly Hills Medical Group for 15 years. He then started his practice in La Mirada and moved to Fullerton in 2014.

Dr. Winston received his Undergraduate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University, St. Louis. He continued at Washington University for Medical School and did his internship at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. He completed his residency at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at Jules Stein. 

Dr. Winston is a Life Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. 

Dr. Winston's mission is to provide the best vision possible using the newest technologies. He strives to prevent vision loss by encouraging annual eye examinations for early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, which can lead to blindness if not diagnosed and treated early. 

Dr. Winston was drawn to Ophthalmology because of the rapid and dramatic differences ophthalmologists can make in their patients' lives. To improve the quality of his practice, he completed a Masters Degree in 
Health Care Management at Harvard University, School of Public Health in Boston. He learned how to train and motivate staff to provide excellent service and design systems to optimize care and improve patient satisfaction. 

Winston Eye Care has developed a dry eye program that utilizes the newest technology through office procedures and home treatment. Dr. Winston pioneered refractive laser-assisted cataract surgery in Fullerton to correct astigmatism and utilized advanced technology lens implants to allow clear vision at a distance, near, and intermediate distances without glasses. As a comprehensive ophthalmologist with surgical experience in glaucoma, cornea, eyelid surgery, and strabismus, Dr. Winston utilizes the newest femtosecond lasers for cataract surgery and 3 lasers in the office to treat retinopathy, glaucoma and secondary Cataracts. The office has specialized equipment to measure eye-tracking, examine the peripheral retina without dilation, and photograph the retinal vasculature. The office also has a minor surgery room with a surgical microscope for procedures such as pterygium excision or repair ocular lacerations. 

Dr. Winston has insisted that his employees and his team of eye doctors treat patients with empathy and respect. The front check ensures that the phones get answered quickly and provide timely appointments for patients and appointments within 24 hours for acute injuries or vision loss. Dr. Winston believes in complete eye care in one location, which provides medical and surgical treatments of most eye conditions along with an optical business that dispenses quality eyeglasses and the best contact lenses for his patients.
